What is a Digipak? Including an analysis of Beyonce's Sasha Fierce Digipak

Here is a Prezi discussing what a Digipak is and the purpose that it serves. For many artists a Digipak will mark a special occassion in their career or a new direction for their music. Therefore, it will usually make a statement about brand image and the way that the performer and record label now wish to be portrayed and represented.

Scrapping a whole day's footage

Jade and I have put together a vlog, discussing all of the reasons behind our decision to scrap footage from a whole day's filming that we did at Southend.
We also put together some of the footage we had from that day into a video, that can be viewed below our vlog.

DAY OF SCRAPPED FOOTAGE:

Just a bit of fun

Here is a quick celebration video we made for fun to celebrate the making and completion of our music video - We have also posted this video onto our Twitter page, we felt that by uploading this video for our audience to view alongside our more serious and professional videos, creates more of a relationship between us, as the producers and them as the audience. They can see us in a fun environment having fun with our product, seeing us as individuals as well as professional producers.

Here is our character profile for the dancer- the only character starring in our music video. We had many different ideas of how to represent the character and try to create a character that audiences can relate to.

Interpretations/Storyline

Obviously, a music video can be interpreted in different ways depending on what person is viewing it. We decided to create our individual interpretation and explain the storyline of the music video- giving a bit more insight into it and what we wanted to achieve when creating that particular section.

Here are a few pictures of our chosen locations and a detailed description as to why we feel that they are ideal for our music video and how we intend to use them and for what effect. We have also included some information about the particular camerawork that we wish to include when filming and our reasons for these decisions regarding cinematography.

Analysing The Lyrics

This is an analysis of the lyrics to 'Of The Night' by Bastille. As our piece has no lip-syncing, we didn't want to be literal with the lyrics but focus on symbolism and a metaphorical approach instead. We felt that this was a more artistic approach and opened up many more opportunities creatively within the production process of our music video

As we looked deeper into the possible meanings of the lyrics, we noticed that within the subtext a theme of escapism and the human need for it could be suggested within lyrics such as: "ease you of your pain" "put some joy upon my face" "sunshine in an empty place". These could be interpreted in another way such as a lost love for example but we felt that to focus on this as a theme was far too predictable and so we decided to focus on escapism as our central idea. In doing this we began to think in detail about what devices people use to escape from reality and concluded that drug use, alcoholism and focusing obsessively on a hobby or subject that you're passionate about (such as dancing) are a few of the main ways people 'escape' .In addition to this we detected an opportunity to represent themes of obsession, passion and confusion surrounding personal identity (represented through an avoidance of revealing too much of our performers identity, in our music video, in order to maintain anonymity as a theme too.)

Mood Board for Bastille - 'Of the night'

This is a series of mood-boarded inspiration for our music video, we will use these to help us in identifying a clear concept which we will stick to and apply constantly. The mood board has really helped us take mental visions and make them visual and applicable to the project. These mood boards will also act as a 'refreshing tool' if ever we feel we're losing direction or vision.
